Hello everyone, today Id like to share with you my personal journey of transitioning from a reservoir engineer to a full stack developer. I know it might seem like an unusual career path, but I believe that my technical expertise and problem-solving skills that I gained as a reservoir engineer have helped me succeed in my new career.
Background:
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering and worked as a reservoir engineer for several years. During my time in the oil and gas industry, I enjoyed the analytical and technical aspects of the job but felt like something was missing. I always had a passion for technology and wanted to learn more about programming and software development.
Career Change:
After careful consideration, I made the decision to pursue a career change and enrolled in a full-stack web development bootcamp. The bootcamp covered a wide range of programming languages and technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, and SQL. I enjoyed the fast-paced learning environment and the hands-on experience of building real-world projects.
Skills Transfer:
As a reservoir engineer, I developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills that have been invaluable in my new career. The ability to analyze large datasets and to identify patterns and trends is crucial in both industries. Additionally, my experience in project management and cross-functional teamwork has helped me in delivering projects on time and within budget.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, transitioning from a reservoir engineer to a full-stack developer has been a challenging but rewarding experience. I have learned so much about technology, programming, and software development, and I feel that my analytical and problem-solving skills are a perfect fit for this new career. I hope my story has inspired others who are considering a career change to pursue their passions and interests. Thank you for listening.
What sets me apart is my ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex problems. I enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and I am always looking for innovative ways to improve the systems I work on. In addition to my technical skills, I am also committed to staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in software development. I enjoy attending conferences, participating in online communities, and contributing to open-source projects. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely, Edgar Rosales
